Winnipeggers doing their part to keep mosquito count low
CJOB News Team reporting
8/2/2012

The mosquito trap counts in Winnipeg have been low this year, and while credit is certainly due to the staff of the Insect Control Branch, city entomologist Taz Stuart says Winnipeggers have been doing their part as well...

Stuart says trap counts are low enough that fogging is not needed at this time but everything could change depending on the weather.

Fogging will begin today in Portage la Prairie due to a high number of the bugs there carrying West Nile Virus.

Two cases of the virus have been diagnosed in Winnipeg so far this year. The last bad year for the virus was 2007...when nearly 600 people in Manitoba were diagnosed.
