The Winnipeg Police Service was issuing a reminder to citizens Tuesday about preventing home break-ins.
Remember to keep windows locked while sleeping or away from your home. During periods of hot weather, citizens without air conditioning often leave their windows open for fresh air and forget to close the window when they leave. That provides an opportunity for criminals to gain access resulting in a loss of personal property. Police would also like to remind citizens to keep their doors and windows locked while working in their yards.
Each year, a number of thefts occur while the residents are working in their yard and someone enters the home through an unlocked door or window.
