Friday's Olympic kick-off ceremony was a celebration of Old England that's been described as stunning, imaginative, whimsical and dramatic.

The ceremony featured a stand-in for the Queen parachuting with James Bond into Olympic Stadium. Canadian flag-bearer Simon Whitfield was beaming as he led the Canadian contingent into the stadium as thumping dance music blared. Prime Minister Harper has extended his best wishes to the 277 Canadians who will compete. Among that group is 7 Manitobans..
