Students from Niverville Collegiate are in mourning after one of their teachers was killed in a motorcycle crash in Northwestern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police say 30-year-old Dana Dueck died after the motorcycle she was riding collided with a pickup truck around 2 pm Sunday along Highway 17 west of Kenora.

Sources say she was on the motorcycle with her dad and the bike was a gift from her family for her 30th birthday.

Students in Niverville are grieving the loss of their very popular young phys. ed teacher known to them as Mrs. Dueck.

CJOB's Kim Lawson spoke with Ken Klassen, the superintendent of Hanover School Division. He says it's a tough time for everyone who knew her.

Students are expressing their grief through Facebook.

One student posted "so many lives being taken away recently.. Constant reality check reminds us of what we have, and how we should treasure it while we have it. R.I.P. Mrs. Dueck. I didn't know you too well, but you put up with our shenanigans like no other teacher would. My heart goes out to the friends and family."

A Facebook page was created for anyone who knew her to join and share their memories.
