Two men arrested following separate serious assaults
CJOB News Team reporting
6/10/2012

Police have arrested two men believed to be behind unrelated serious sexual assaults.

The first incident is said to have happened early Saturday morning after a 16 year-old girl says she was forced into a residence in the area of Selkirk Avenue and McGregror Street and seriously sexually assaulted.

A police investigation led police to 23 year-old Raymond Edward Hamilton who is now charged with sexual assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Then at about 1:30 Saturday afternoon a 44 year-old woman says she was seriously sexually assaulted while in the area of Wellington Avenue and Maryland Street.

Constable Jason Michalyshen tells CJOB News it's obviously concerning that someone would be so brazen as to commit the alleged attack in broad daylight.

"The victim was lured to an outdoor storage shed where the suspect forced entry. Once inside the suspect proceeded to make sexual advances towards the victim and things did escalate to the point where a serious sexual assault occurred," says Michalyshen.

The suspect was picked up Saturday night on an unrelated matter, but was eventually connected to the assault.

42 year-old Orville William Thompson is now facing several charges including sexual assault and break and enter.
