Five Manitobans have received awards from the Lieutenant-Governor for their prolonged meritorious service in the preservation and promotion of the province's history and heritage..
The recipients include Barbara Pettinger of Shoal Lake, Robert Porth of Whitemouth, Bernice Still of Isabella, John Templeman of Winnipeg and Joan Wheeler of Crystal City..
Some of their contributions include volunteering at local museums, preparation of history books and displays, commemoration of historic sites and development of historical tours..
The Lieutenant-Governor's award was established in 2010 and is presented annually in consultation with the Manitoba Historical Society..
