U of Manitoba architecture students have set up a 3-D model of downtown Winnipeg at Portage Place mall..
A scheduled presentation from the model’s creators is planned for May 10, 2012 from 12 noon to 1..
Students from the Environmental Design program were assigned a project that required building a small-scale model of the downtown, as part of proposing how the downtown can be revitalized and what it could look like if it were to focus on surface parking lot redevelopments.
The project explores new opportunities, develops an understanding of existing initiatives, makes proposals for a downtown neighbourhood, and illustrates how development of the public realm can support these visions.
