Six speakers from across Manitoba and NorthWest Ontario will compete to win the quarter-finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking Saturday, May 5th - 3:30 p.m. at Celebrations in Canad Inn Fort Garry.
Sheryl Berglund, Scott Burton, Jenny Gates, Shelley Ireland, Joanne McDowall, and Berni Plett won the right to represent their respective Divisions after winning three rounds of competition.
The winner advances to the semi-final round of the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking. It will be held in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, August 16.
Each division-level winner advanced to this quarter-final round after a process of elimination through club, area and division speech competitions. Their five-to-seven-minute speeches were judged on content, organization, and style.
The Toastmasters International Speech Contest is the world's largest speech contest comprising 30,000 participants in 116 countries.
