Two trials of former cops at law courts today
CJOB News Team reporting
4/30/2012

A jury will soon have to decide amongst itself whether sex between a former Winnipeg Police Officer and an 18 year old woman was consentual.

58 year old Richard Dow is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman in 2000 during a photo shoot for a modelling agency he ran on the side.

Dow has admitted he had sex with the woman but says it was consentual.

The jury will begin deliberations later today. It will be sequestered until reaching a verdict.

Meanwhile, a former police chief is scheduled to appear in court today for his role in the investigation into the death of Crystal Taman.

Harry Bakema, former East St. Paul police chief, is facing charges of perjury, breach of trust and obstruction of justice.

Taman, a mother of three, was killed in 2005 when she was rear-ended at a red-light on the Perimeter Highway by off-duty police officer Derek Harvey-Zenk.
