Firefighters are keeping a close watch on the Assiniboine Forest near Shaftesbury.
At least 17 fire units and more than 50 firefighters had responded to the fire since around 3:00 Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out in the brush.
The street had closed to let fire crews battle the flames but was reopened just after 8:30 Thursday evening.
Fire Platoon Chief Albert Sigfusson says the work went slowly because of water supply concerns.
He said they had planned to let it burn right up to Shaftesbury.
Firefighters will monitor the scene for hot sports and flare ups.
