There were some tense moments in the Forks area Tuesday night..
Clouds of thick smoke started billowing from the area just after 7:30pm following reports there was a bridge on fire.
Dan of Bastell Limited told CJOB he called 9-1-1.
Dan says the fire department was able to get the fire out rather quickly.. He says at one point flames were shooting 30 feet into the air.
Dan says he saw kids playing in the area just before the fire started.
Police say docks stored on land at the Forks had caught fire and the fire spread to the grass and up to a railway bridge. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The smoke and the firetrucks at the scene resulted in the closure of Main Street between Marion and Broadway for about an hour.
Damage extended to some portable docks pictured below.
