A former Winnipeg Police officer is standing trial on charges of sexual assault.

Richard Dow is charged with one count of sexual assault dating back to 2000 when he ran a modelling agency out of his home on the side.

The complainant, who was an 18-year-old aspiring model at the time, has told court she approached Dow after seeing an ad in the paper. She said she wanted to make some extra money.

She told court she returned later for a six hour photo shoot which started with her modelling in full clothes but ended up with shots of her in underwear - some of which was provided by Dow.

She testified Dow got her drunk by feeding her alcoholic beverages between photos and eventually walked in on her changing. She said he stared at her, told her she looked good and began touching her breasts.

She said Dow would later rub baby oil on her and take a photo for his "private collection". The woman told court she was so drunk she was 'drifting in and out of conciousness'.

She claims he eventually ended up on top of her on the floor with his pants down, before he carried her to the bedroom and forced her to perform oral sex on him. She says the two then had sex with her almost blacking out.

She says he then drove her to her boyfriend's but would later ask her out again for drinks. She said "no" but then met him again to pick up the photos, which she said were terrible.

Dow was arrested in 2006 after an internal investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service.

Dow sat calmly in the courtroom, looking at the woman. He has been free on bail. His defence lawyers will have their chance to cross-examine the complainant this afternoon.
