The province will be merging the 11 existing regional health authorities down to five.
Finance minister Stan Struthers made the announcement as part of the budget speech this afternoon.
Between 30 and 35 executive positions are expected to be eliminated with the mergers and the money saved redirected to front line services.
The merged health districts and the new RHAs are as follows:
Assiniboine, Brandon and Parkland -> Western RHA Burntwood and NOR-MAN -> Northern RHA Central and South Eastman -> Southern RHA Interlake and North Eastman -> Eastern RHA Winnipeg and Churchill -> Winnipeg RHA
