You're likely familiar with at least one of these streets in Winnipeg... Fortune, Hugo, and Borebank.
But did you know of their connection to the Titanic?
On Friday Mayor Sam Katz issues a statement of remembrance, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's sinking, reminding us all that several prominent Winnipeggers lost their lives that night. Mark Fortune, who served on Winnipeg City Council, John Hugo Ross, and J.J. Borebank were among them.
A reminder that a plaque at City Hall that was erected in 1912 can be found on the lower floor of the Council Building at 510 Main Street.
