A man known to police is in custody following a chase in Surrey Saturday night.
Staff Sgt. Bob Pinkewycz says two officers were getting ready for foot patrol in the area of Whalley Beach about 11:45pm when they heard a shot that sounded like a gunshot.
Pinkewycz says they encountered the man, who wasn't compliant.

"That resulted a foot chase in which a number of police support units, emergency response team, police helicopter airship, and our dog section assisted with and a male person was subsequently arrested and a firearm recovered."

Pinkewycz says at this point, there's no evidence that anyone was injured by the shot that was heard.
The man may be facing charges.
