An emergency town hall meeting in Kits Thursday night will look to rally people against the Coast Guard cuts and closing of the Base.

West Coast Fisheries and Oceans critic Fin Donnelly says people are angry, especially when it comes to replacing highly trained Coast Guard with volunteers, "And I think that is just unacceptable and Coast Guard members are not wanting to see the professional service that they provide replaced with a volunteer organization."

Donnelly says he will carry the messages gathered at the rally to Ottawa to present to the Minister to try and get the cuts reversed.

The meeting (at 7:00 p.m.) at the Jericho Sailing Centre will be attended by Federal NDP MP's including Donnelly, the Coast Guard union, and others.
