The Transportation Safety Board says RCMP have confirmed one person dead after a float plane crash-landed about 30 kilometres west of Peachland in the Okanagan.

Bill Yearwood says so far, there is no evidence of survivors, but that just the one fatality has been confirmed.

Yearwood says the privately-registered Dehavilland Beaver left Pitt Meadows today for Kelowna, and was on its way back to Pitt Meadows when it went down near Highway 97.

"We know that the aircraft crashed not far off the highway near the Mine Road."

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says 3 people were on-board, including one pilot.
