A Squamish family grieving the loss of their 15-year-old son is appealing to parents and youths, to understand how dangerous it is to ride a bicycle along a highway at night. 15-year-old Dean Mccall was riding along Highway 99 near Mamquam Road at 11:35 on saturday night when he was hit by a taxi. He suffered severe head injuries and died the next day in BC Children's Hospital.
RCMP say speed, distracted driving, and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash. Mccall's family is urging everyone to use reflective gear, lights, and a helmet.
