Toronto Police are looking for up to six suspects after a stabbing the west end near Dupont and Dufferin.
The call was originally about a fight that broke outside the Galleria Mall just after noon on Friday.
Officers found a 43 year-old man suffering from a wound to his stomach and was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Police could not confirm reports that a shovel may have been used as the weapon.
One witness said the suspects may have taken off in a green truck.
Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
