Toronto Public Health reports two people in Toronto may be this year’s first confirmed cases of West Nile Virus.
An 80 year old man is in hospital recovering and a 32 year old woman is receiving treatment at home.
The infections have not been confirmed by the province but these cases come in just a day after the city claimed more than half of their mosquito traps have tested positive for West Nile, breaking the all time record.
The virus can exhibit flu like symptoms and is especially harmful to those with weakened immune systems.
