Today will be the longest day of the year as a "leap second" is added to the clocks to make up for a gradual slowdown in the earth's rotation.
According to scientists, there shouldn't be any noticeable effect on computers or any other technology as they adjust for leap seconds.
This will be the 25th leap second to be added to the clocks since 1971 and the first in three and a-half years.
