The TDSB will consider a controversial plan to sell parts of some schoolyards in a meeting tonight.
If given the go ahead, the plan would see staff examine every school and report back in November on which schools have land that could be severed and sold.
It would raise some much needed cash for renovations or upgrades to buildings.
The idea would be to raise about $100 million by selling up to 100 parcels of land as the province doesn't set a minimum size for schoolyards.
But the education ministry says the money from land sales couldn't be used on school programs or staff and could only be used on upgrades or renovations to buildings.
