Tougher punishments could be coming to Ontario teachers who are involved with sexual misconduct towards students.
A former Superior court justice is recommending at least 49 changes to the disciplinary process to make it more transparent to the public in a 76 page report.
Some of the sugesstions include disclosing the names of all teachers found guilty of misconduct, posting a notice on the college website when a teacher is facing charges and expanding panel members who hear cases to include more non-teachers.
Teachers could also have their teaching certificate revoked as punishment for sexual abuse or misconduct.
