The teen boy charged with first-degree murder in the death of York Regional Police Const. Garrett Styles makes a court appearance in Newmarket Monday.
The 32 year old officer died after pulling over a minivan in East Gwillimbury.
When Const. Styles approached the vehicle, it's alleged the driver who was 15 at the time, suddently hit the gas, dragging the officer.
The now 16 year old accused, was paralyzed in the crash and his lawyer says he will not have to be present for the entire preliminary hearing.
The case remains under a publication ban.
