A shortage of EMS first responders left paramedics scrambling Sunday afternoon according to a report in the Toronto Sun.
A union official says dispatchers weren't able to find any available ambulances to send to the scene when a high priority call came in for a man in his late 30's who was vital signs absent near Birchmount Rd. and McNicholl Ave.
Two paramedics from separate ambulance teams were sent to fill the call where the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An EMS spokesperson insisted they were there within minutes.
