Mayor Ford has conquered a small hurdle, in his bid to purchase a piece of parkland behind his home.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Area board voted today, to defer any action on the mayor's request, until further study has been done.
The land, which has sparked controversy between the mayor and the Toronto Star, is studded with mature trees.
Councillor Glen De Baeremaeker, a board member, was the only one to vote against the request today, citing if one resident is able to purchase a piece of the park, everyone will want to be able to do the same.
Staff will now issue a report that will be looked over in June.
If the sale is approved, the public will be given a chance to depute, followed by a final vote by the TRCA.
