Toronto's Chief Medical officer wants speed limits in the city cut by 10 to 20 kilometres per hour to reduce injuries to pedestrians and cyclists.
A proposal suggests lowering the speed limit to 30 km/h on residential streets and 40 km/h as a city wide speed limit.
The proposals were made by Dr.David McKeown after a $45,000 report said that pedestrians were far less likely to be killed for every 10 km/h reduction below 60 km/h.
