Trial dates have been set for one of the men accused in what police called a random murder nearly two years ago. The five-week trial for Tyler Sturrup will begin April 22nd. He faces a count of second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Mark Mariani. His body was found in a strip mall parking lot on 16th Avenue across from North Hill Mall on October 3, 2010. At the time, police said it appeared to be a random act of violence with Mariani being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sturrup's co-accused, Robert Reitmeier, will also be back in court in the new year to answer to the same second-degree murder charge. Sturrup and Reitmeier are well-known to police, skinheads who are said to be part of Calgary's white supremacist subculture. But investigators have said those had nothing to do with the killing.
