Calgary is joining in the fun of the London Olympics, which officially begin Friday afternoon with the opening ceremonies. The Union Jack is now flying high in front of old city hall downtown. Mayor Naheed Nenshi joined British Consul-General Tony Kay and a couple of dozen spectators to raise the flag Friday morning. Kay says it means a lot to see the flag flying so prominently in a former Olympic host-city. He says it also signifies the strength of the relationship between Calgary, Alberta and Britain. Kay says it is a big day in London and they are ready to host what he calls a "safe, secure, prosperous and fun Games". Nenshi will be heading to the Olympics as part of his vacation.
