While a lot of attention is focused on Highway 63, Alberta's transportation minister says negotiations are still on-going regarding the southwest portion of Calgary's ring road. It was just over a year ago that then-Premier Ed Stelmach showed cautious optimism talking about the southwest leg of Calgary's ring road. At that point, they were doing some minor "modifications" to get the Tsuu T'ina on-side with having the roadway go through their land, but he was hopeful it would be done before he left office. Yet there is still no deal, but Transportation Minister Ric McIver says that doesn't mean it's dead. Many people, including Mayor Naheed Nenshi, have said going through Tsuu T'ina land is the best option for the ring road.
