A 4.4 per cent hike in taxi fares is likely on its way by this October. There will also be another increase as the airport authority is asking for an extra $1 in a "airport departure fee" for cabs.
The transportation committee is recommending council come up with a bylaw to put the increase in place.
It will be the first increase in cab fares in four years and comes as the Taxi and Limousine Advisory Committee looks at Stats Canada's Consumer Price Index.
