Things look bleak for a planned 5 day ride to commemmorate the 100th Calgary Stampede from the Rafter 6 Ranch. Planning for the ride started over a year ago, and was supposed to begin Sunday. However, the group has not secured the necessary permit from Transport Alberta to cross highway 22 near Springbank.
Gloria Cowley, one of the event's organizers says the whole event relies on that one permit.
Cowley says the group was unaware they needed a permit for the crossing until June 19th. They are working on a secondary plan which requires trailering the wagons and horses for most of the journey.
