City council has turned down a request from Alderman John Mar for $150 thousand to go to an education and awareness campaign focusing on illicit drug use.
The request came at the height of the concern over ecstasy overdoses where nine Calgarians died over taking ecstasy produced with a highly toxic chemical. It's an issue alderman say should be on the plate of the provincial goverment. Many believe if the city picks up this tab, it lets the province off the hook.
