NDP critic Peggy Nash is accusing the Harper government of scapegoating unemployed Canadians. She says the federal government's changes to the Employment Insurance program are a way of telling jobless people they aren't trying hard enough to find work. New regulations announced today take aim at frequent users of E-I and force workers to accept jobs with lower rates of pay, the longer they collect benefits. Human Resources Minister Diane Finley says the government will also make it easier for the unemployed to find work by emailing them two ``job alerts'' a day, informing them of openings.
