City council has agreed to temporarily move the former Eamon's building located adjacent to Crowchild Trail to give the city more time to gauge public and private interest in saving the structure. The building is located where the new Rocky Ridge Lrt park and ride facility is going up. There was a huge outcry from supporters wanting to save the building concerned about it's potential historic value. Moving and storing the building will cost half a million dollars and could cost the city another million dollars depending on the outcome. Transportation GM Mac Logan says "if the building is brought back onto the site and refurbished by either the city for a municipal use or leased or sold to a private party, there will be additional costs." That gave the issue a rough ride in council but not enough to put off the temporary move. A report will come back to council later this year providing an update on any interest in using the building as part of the new park and ride.
