Arson charges have been laid after a fire caused extensive damage to the school in Arrowwood, about 90 kilometers east of Calgary. The fire about 11:30 Friday Night destroyed the offices near the school entrance and resulted in heat and smoke damage throughout. A few minutes later a second fire was deliberately set at a nearby bulk fuel station. Both blazes were knocked down quickly by local volunteer firefighters with help from neighboring communities.
Students returned to class wednesday after the community stepped up with donated space. Damage from the two fires is estimated at 4 million dollars.
