A new team has officially been launched to tackle the sensitive issue of elder abuse.
It's not just about laying charges, but prevention and letting people know it's safe to call and report.
The Elder Abuse Response Team is made up of three city organizations: Calgary Police, Calgary Family Services and the Kerby Centre.
Funding for the partnership was announced last May and organizers have now officially launched the team which will work under one roof.
Coordinator Jennifer Gurke says elder abuse is under-reported and they hope the team will give people the confidence to call and put a stop to it.
Officials add it's not just the victim, but witnesses as well, that need to stand up and be a part of the movement.
