Hamilton Police have made an arrest as they continue to investigate the April 6th shooting death of 36-year old Michael Swistak in the playground of Cathy Weaver Elementary School.
Early Saturday morning, members of the Gangs and Weapons Unit along with the Emergency Response Unit arrested a man they say had been identified as a supplier of crack cocaine to a Madison Avenue crack house adjacent to the scene of the fatal shooting.
Police say the man was in possession of an ounce of crack at the time of his arrest.
Officers then executed a search warrant at an Emerald Street North address linked to the man and seized a loaded handgun.
A 19-year old man is to appear in court Monday on charges of possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
Meantime, police continue to encourage anyone with information about the city's first murder of the year to come forward.
