In the same week one city councillor expressed concern over secrecy surrounding the new Pan Am stadium -- the city has signed on the dotted line for the project -- without knowing the costs.
The senior vice-president of project delivery for Infrastructure Ontario told councillors today he wouldn’t give the numbers in public.
John McKendrick claims that doing so would make it possible for potential bidders to figure out what is in the agreement.
Councillor's Brenda Johnson and Lloyd Ferguson opposed the vote. Ferguson calls it bad business practice and asked if council go behind closed doors to learn the exact costs.
But he was told that would contravene the Municipal Act.
Hamilton's general manager of public works tried to assure council that staff is comfortable with facility costs and that they're within the 51 million dollar budget.
