A Hamilton man has been arrested and charged after an investigation into online fraud.
Hamilton Police began looking into the sale of electronics and major event tickets last October.
Over the course of a year, 23 victims were identified from across Canada with total losses of over $35,000.
20 year old Jacob Miranda was arrested and charged on Tuesday. Police believe he met his victims via personal contacts and social media sites like Kijiji and Facebook.
After victims transferred money to Miranda's bank accounts he failed to deliver the products as promised.
Police say Miranda used several aliases that include Jacob Warner, Jacob Wilson, Jacob Marandaz, Jacob Maranda, Josh Kovecks, and Jacob Wilcox. It is also alleged that Miranda used email addresses such as ontariotickets@live.ca and hamiltonclothing@hotmail.com in these frauds.
Police believe there may be other victims. Anyone who thinks they are a victim are asked to contact police.
