A search involving Niagara Regional Police and the Canadian Coast Guard
on Lake Erie near Port Colborne has been called off.
An official stresses that had anyone been in distress --- they would have been located by now.
He adds that there are no reports of missing persons in the area.
Emergency officials were called to Elcho Beach last night about a possible drowning after a man was spotted lying on an air mattress about 600 feet off shore before he disappeared from sight.
