A pat on the back for Halton.
It's been described as the safest regional municipality in Canada with a population over 100,000.
That's based on numbers in Statistics Canada's 2011 Crime Severity Index released earlier this week.
According to the report, Halton has the lowest overall Crime Severity Index.
It also has the the lowest Non-Violent Crime Severity Index and the second lowest Violent Crime Severity Index.
Acting Chief Andrew Fletcher says the numbers speak volumes about the effective partnership between the police service and the community to prevent, deter and reduce crime,"
