A bit of a downswing in housing starts in the Hamilton Census Metropolitan Area last month.
192 new homes were built in June, down from 222 in June of 2011.
But local homebuilders are still well ahead of last year's pace.
1,759 homes, apartments and condos have been erected so far this year, up from 975 at this time last year, and increase of 80 per cent.
CMHC says "demand from buyers in Hamilton and the GTA has helped to keep the residential construction market busy this year."
