A popular Food Network star will headline The Business Excellence Awards Gala in Hamilton this fall.
David Rocco -- perhaps best known as host of the internationally syndicated TV series "David Rocco's Dolce Vita" -- will be the keynote speaker at the annual awards night at Carmen's September 24th.
The announcement was made at a luncheon held by the Canadian-Italian Business and Professionals Association in Burlington this afternoon.
Associate Minister of National Defence, Julian Fantino -- a guest at the lunch -- says he recalls coming to Canada from Italy at the age of 10.
He likened leaving family and familiar places to having to serve a bit of an apprenticeship but believes it made him and countless others stronger.
Fantino says immigrants coming to Canada today are fortunate to have greater opportunities and support systems in place to make sure they succeed in the choice they made in coming to Canada.
