City councillors have put off a decsion that would see a one time forgivable grant of 650 thousand dollars to entice a grocery store to set up shop in the downtown core.
The recommendation by city staff has been sent back with councillors asking them to tweak the proposal to a loan and lowering the price tag.
Staff suggested the grant would solve the scarce gocery store problem and help make the core more attractive to residents.
There would be certain criteria to qualify for the grant, and while some councillors were supportive others raised concerns.
Lloyd Ferguson among them, saying the city seems to be pouring too much cash into the downtown.
