The Hamilton Tiger-Cats ended the pre-season with an entertaining 26-25 win over the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg on Wednesday night.

Henry Burris marched the Cats 81 yards on their first drive, setting the tone with a 12 yard touchdown run.

Burris, who recently turned 37, went 16 for 22 for 188 yards and ended his half of work with 9 carries for 91 yards and a score.

Avon Cobourne, who played in his first game since returning to Hamilton, carried the ball 13 times for 57 yards.

Buck Pierce played the first half, completing 5 of his 15 pass attempts for 154 yards.

The Ticats defensive line had a solid performance, with sacks from Ronnell Brown, Eddie Steele and Jermaine McElveen.

Josh Maveety hit all three of his field goal tries and Luca Congi connected on his lone attempt of the game.

Winnipeg's kickers struggled to find their form.

Justin Palardy went 1-for-2 while former Ticat Eric Wilbur missed both his kicks.

His first attempt from 29 yards was tipped by Hamilton linebacker Jamall Johnson and missed wide left, and his second attempt from 38 yards out with no time left in the game sailed wide left for a single point.

The Ticats open the regular season on Friday June 29 when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Ivor Wynne Stadium.

CHML's coverage of the game, brought to you by Terra, Canada's Toughest Safety Boots, begins at 6pm.

Kickoff is at 7pm.
