Hamilton police are looking for a suspect after a 19 year old woman was followed home and sexually assaulted.
It happened Tuesday afternoon at around 3pm. Police say the woman was walking westbound on Barton Street from the area of St. Matthew's Drive, when a man, unknown to her, approached and struck up a conversation.
The suspect continued to walk with her, and once at her residence in the area of Victoria and Barton, he followed her into her backyard and sexually assaulted her.
She struggled with the offender until he left the area. He was last seen northbound on Victoria Ave.
He is described as white, between 23 to 25 years of age, 5'3" tall, small build, facial hair, straight buzzed hair brown in colour, prescription glasses with full brown plastic frames, rectangular in shape with rounded corners and a tattoo on his right bicep.
He was wearing brown knee-length shorts, a dark coloured sleeveless t-shirt and tan construction boots. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sandra Walters of the Sexual Assault Unit at 905-540-5050 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
