Fire officials in Hamilton have warned residents to use caution when open air burning.
They stress that the hot temperatures and lack of rain have created dry ground conditons that could easily cause fires to burn out of control.
Precautions include supervision of fires at all times, keeping equipment to douse the fire on site and accounting for changing wind conditions.
Residents are also reminded that no open air burning is allowed when a smog advisory is in effect ---- and that open-air burning is only allowed in areas that are designed as rural.
