Man survives plunge over Niagara Falls
CHML
5/22/2012

A man is recovering in hospital after plunging over Niagara Falls.

Witnesses say the man, believed to be in his 40s, climbed over a wall, jumped into the river and was swept over the Horseshoe Falls.

He surfaced in the lower Niagara River basin and managed to make it to shore on his own.

The man suffered chest injuries, including broken ribs and a collapsed lung, but is expected to survive.

He is only the third person known to have gone over the Falls without a safety device and lived.
