Citing a need to protect the public police in Burlington have shot and killed a roaming black bear.
It happened in Mountainside Park in the area of the 407 and Brant Street at about 11:30.
Officers had been tracking the bear through the residential neighbourhood to an area behind Carpenter Hospice.
Three local elementary schools had also been notified about the animal's prescence to ensure the safety of students.
Animal control officers were on site as observers.
It's yet to be determined whether it's the same bear that was spotted last weekend in Milton.
